ADDITIONAL ROOMS HERALD THE NEXT LEVEL FOR
QUEENSTOWN PARK BOUTIQUE HOTEL
Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel, situated in the heart of Queenstown, is expanding its accommodation by adding three new rooms, which will all feature magnificent views of The Remarkables mountain range.
They will be styled in a similar fashion to the existing premier Remarkables Rooms but will feature individual gas fireplaces, an open balcony and breath-taking views over Queenstown Recreational Ground to The Remarkables. They will be built on top of the existing Remarkables Rooms.
“The three additional rooms will keep with the contemporary styling and use the same materials as the existing building”, says architect Chris Wilson. “The second floor addition is set back from the edge of the existing building to create balconies off the new rooms. This will allow guests to step outside and admire the views. The new rooms will feature gas fires and will cover a generous 50 sqm.”
With these new rooms it will increase the total number of rooms available to 22.
After months of careful planning, owners The Patterson Brothers of Christchurch are excited to see their plans come to fruition. “When we purchased the hotel in April 2016 we had this expansion in our sights. The strong trading conditions have given us the confidence to make this investment and expand our accommodation offering at the hotel”, comments Michael Patterson.
The expansion represents an investment of $2 million.
The Patterson Family have been hotel owner operators at The Commodore Hotel in Christchurch since it opened, 47 years ago. “The addition of three rooms to the Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel is in keep with our approach at The Commodore, that is to continually reinvest to keep the property competitive,” says Michael. “We are excited to be operators in the hospitality scene in Queenstown”, adds Michael.
The Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel will temporarily close from 23 April to allow construction work to proceed without any risk of guest disruption.
After the majority of the building work has been completed, the hotel will partially re-open to guests in early July for guests staying in the ‘Gondola’ rooms, on the other side of the hotel. Guests will be warmly welcomed and will be extended the hotel’s premier service, as usual.
The added rooms, which will be known at Remarkables Junior Suites, are expected to open late August and the existing ‘Remarkables’ rooms will re-open at the same time.
New Management Structure
To coincide with this expansion one of the Patterson Brothers – Ken – will relocate to Queenstown to become more actively involved in managing both the Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel and the family’s other Queenstown business, Touchdown Car Rentals.
Current Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel General Manager, Karen Henry will depart after five and half years at the hotel. “We are grateful to Karen who will soon finish her role as General Manager of the Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel. Karen has led the team for more than five years. She has an impeccable eye for detail which has been evident in the outstanding feedback from our guests and trade partners”, says Michael.
Throughout the construction period, reservations and general enquiries will be managed as normal using the existing contact details. Current Assistant Manager Francisco Freire will be available throughout, including during the time when the hotel will be closed to guests and during the partial re-opening. ENDS
